Research Centre Knowledge Organisation and Technical Systems

The role of the COSTECH laboratory is to develop research in the humanities and social sciences in the context of an engineering school. This approach, which focuses on the relationship between Man, Technology and Society, is based on linking scientific, philosophical and technical research.

Costech’s particularity is to be focused on the question of the relations between Man, Technology and Society: technical conditions for the constitution of knowledge, lived experience and values; uses and new social practices around digital media; modelling and management of innovation and changes in organizations.

This approach is divided into three levels that could be described as micro, meso and macro: the technically constituted and technically constituent dimensions of the human experience (CRED team); the new social practices around digital supports and devices (EPIN team); and the modelling and management of innovation and socio-technical changes specific to contemporary capitalism (CRI team). The micro level thus concerns above all the man-technical relationship, the meso level involves people through technology (and in particular through digital technology), the macro level goes from innovation collectives to territories, including companies.

Costech is committed to combining ambitious and unconventional conceptual research with a focus on testing in technical, organizational and social achievements.
